Answers/Info From the Magazine!

By JJJ

As I was making these Magazine covers, I thought it would be

fun to REALLY put answers from the cover on a page.

On occassion I will do this...although most of the covers will be

just for fun!

Comments or questions can be left in my guestbook

My TOP 2 BUNS for Every Day

heart #1- The Pretzel Bun.

In 2005 I was trying to learn how to do buns.

My hair was about 36" long and if I was going to grow longer,

I needed to wear it up. I found some

large claw clips at a Walgreens and tried experimenting.

I was excited to get a bun to hold for once! It kind of looked like a

pretzel so I named it the PRETZEL BUN. I have worn this bun from

classic to past floor length! Its always easy and holds so good.

I have several tutorials on it, but I LOVE the

Fluffed up PRETZEL BUN version!

heart#2 the Easy Hand Wrap Bun

I accidently came up with this around 2014.

I would always wrap my wet hair

around my hand in the shower to squeese out the water.

So, I tried it with dry hair after making a ponytail and inserted

a hair stick! It worked great and was so easy and fast!

Braided or unbraided it holds like a rock even with one stick!

Its my go to bun when I dont want to spend time

bothering with my hair, especially first thing in the morning!

GIVE YOUR SCALP A BREAK!

ROTATE TOOLS! AND CHANGE UP STYLES

Wearing hair up every day can make your scalp stressed and sore.

So I change up my tools (and style)

2 large claw clips one day, hair sticks the next and multiple

small claw clips on another day. All sit in the hair in slightly

different areas. Distributing the weight to different spots while

wearing buns. Small clips are like the numbers on a clock that

surround your head.

2 large clips are 2 vertical strips mid back of head,

sticks are mainly more centered and for me,

harder to make a really comfortable bun but its gotten better.

Of course there are spin pins, hair pins and then just

wearing it down on occassion (not me though)

I wear mine up ALL THE TIME.

IMPORTANT is gathering hair in a ponytail for many styles.

This helps distribute the weight. NEVER pull the ponytail

TIGHT, pulling on the perimeter of the hair line!

Loosten any pulling spots...keep it loose!

heartGROW to YOUR BEST POTENTIAL

Grow where health meets your best length!

I started a longer hair journey in 2004 but I

was already at 36" having had hair that length for many years.

It may take you years to figure out what this length is.

After all of this time and many setbacks,

I believe my best length to be around finger tip.

Although it is at ankle at the moment as I write this,

I am trying too see how good I can

get the ends of my hair after experiencing

thinning, inverse v, fairytailing and stress

hair loss over many years.

My journey has not been easy at times...

but I kept going.

Trimming some years half the

growth to get a better hemline,

always wanting health over length.

(that hem is the BIGGEST challenge for me)

I grew out my bangs too which took YEARS!

NOW all of my hair is ONE LENGTH.

Everyone has different goals.

Having ankle length hair is pretty

extreme for most people, but its pretty amazing

to grow this long too.

I still believe in health over length and am realistic...

I feel I need to trim a few inches soon.

My hair is HEALTHY, but

for the length, I was wanting thicker ends.

I think my hair is as good as it will get right now at ankle,

so I have potentially reached the

best ankle length I can get!

its 68" right now 4-29-23.

Keep trimming to keep up with the hemline.

A neat hem can make the hair look

great/thicker/healthier

ballLearn to self trim if possible.

(I do straight across)

self trim page under construction

The worst thing ever is

to have too much trimmed from someone

who doesn't listen or understand your goals

and hard work. That "potential" is in your hands

(in most cases)

Learn healthy hair habits to reach that goal.

 ballNO Dyeing, crazy colors etc.

ballUse henna with caution ( please skip)

  ballNo bangs, No layers

 ballTrim often

 ballShampoo less

 ballCondition more

 ballProtective styles

(see my Youtube channel for this)

ballBeing patient is a big one!

 ballLimit heat tools

(flat irons, curling irons for sure)

use heat protectant if you must.

I could go on and on!!
